“I paint not to record a landscape as it appears, but to express how it lingers in memory long after I have left it.”

The places I encounter remain with me as impressions of color, light, movement, and atmosphere. In the studio, those impressions become the foundation for landscapes that are remembered as much as observed.

Although my paintings often begin with recognizable places—from the Southwest and Rocky Mountains to landscapes encountered farther afield—they are not intended as literal records. Color is intensified, forms are simplified, and movement is emphasized until the landscape becomes a personal interpretation shaped by memory and imagination.

Aspens, rivers, mountains, and expansive skies provide a rhythmic language through which I explore both the grandeur and intimacy of the natural world. I want the viewer to recognize something familiar while also experiencing a sense of wonder, energy, and reflection.
